Founded in 2007, Ultra4 is a racing series launched by Hammerking Productions, the force behind the toughest one-day off-road race on the planet, King of The Hammers. The Ultra4 class of racing machines must be capable of 4-wheel drive. Beyond that, the class is unlimited and cars come in all shapes and sizes to achieve speeds over 100mph like Trophy Trucks while maintaining low 100:1 gear ratios for technical rock crawling.

The Ultra4 race series has four main competitive classes of cars, the remainder are UTV’s and motorcycles. Many of the purpose-built cars can be seen in other popular events like the Mint 400 and Baja 1000. The 4400 Unlimited is the premiere and most popular class. These vehicles must have a transfer case that allows 4-wheel drive, the usual safety equipment, and that’s about it for restrictions. The rest of the classes, 4500 Modified, 4600 Stock, and 4800 Legends each have unique restrictions and the rules allow for some classes to get paired up against each other in competition.
