The above friction data (μ) was recorded through braking cycles from 95 mph to 40 mph at a 0.5g deceleration. Snubs were consecutively done until rotor temperature reached 1300°F. This graph represents average data and is for general trend visualisations only comparing Wilwood pads. Chart data should not be used in comparison with other manufacturer's data. Test conditions, variables, and environment can affect test results.

Temperature range and overall friction value are the primary considerations for pad selection. The pads must maintain the proper amount of friction for stopping power within the temperatures that will be realized on the track. Overall wear rate must also be considered. For most asphalt and road race applications, compounds in the high-temperature range over 1000°F are usually necessary. Dirt track, drag race, and street performance applications usually operate at temperatures between 500° and 1000°F. Keep in mind that these are general ranges and not absolute values. Many factors and unforeseen influences can affect brake temperatures. The best indicator for pad selection will always be on-track performance. If pad fade (friction loss) due to overheating occurs, improved cooling, a heavier rotor, or a higher temperature range pad may become necessary.

D154 Single & Dual Piston Floater Calipers

Wilwood's D154 forged billet caliper is a direct bolt-on, lightweight, high-strength, extreme duty alternative to the OE cast iron calipers that were used on a wide range of factory disc brake equipped mid size GM cars and small trucks beginning in 1978. Use of this caliper can still be found on some GM models as late as the year 2002. The wide spread and affordable availability of D154 calipers and brake pad compounds also made it a popular choice in a number of restricted class competition categories and drum to disc conversions on all types of hot rods and street machines. D154-Dust Seal Single Piston Floater Calipers

Wilwood's D154-DS forged billet caliper is a direct bolt-on, lightweight, high-strength, extreme duty alternative to the OE cast iron calipers that were used on a wide range of factory disc brake equipped mid-size GM cars and small trucks beginning in 1978. Use of this caliper can still be found on some GM models as late as the year 2002. D154-DS calipers incorporate an exclusive dust wiper seal that further protects the piston bore from dust and corrosion, allowing the caliper to be used in locales that mandate a method of environmental sealing. The wide spread and affordable availability of D154-DS calipers and brake pad compounds also made it a popular choice in a number of restricted class competition categories and drum to disc conversions on all types of hot rods and street machines. D154-R Single Piston Floater Calipers

Wilwood's newest race caliper, the D154-R starts with a forged aluminum black anodized body with stainless steel piston. With a choice of 2.50” or 2.00” pistons and covering rotors from .81” to 1.04” thickness up to 12.19” diameter. Caliper fluid inlet port centered directly behind the piston eliminates any interference with slide pins. Lower deflection rate and higher volumetric efficiency than all the competitions’ heavier cast models, D154-R calipers with a 2.50" piston weighs only 3.3 pounds and use standard metric D154 pads. Caliper mounting uses stock height and offset. View D154-R Single Piston Floater Calipers

GM-Metric Single Piston Floater Calipers

Wilwood’s GM Metric Caliper is a direct replacement for the 1978 and later D154 type GM metric caliper. Weights starting at 2.92 pounds, it provides a substantial weight savings over cast iron OE calipers. Requires use of hardened Wilwood slide pins (sold separately), request part no. 230-0619 (slide pin kit) contains 4 slide pins, enough for two calipers View GM Single Piston Calipers

GM-Metric-Iron Single Piston Floater Calipers

These are all new and not rebuilt, cast iron calipers, purpose built for racing. Wilwood’s GM Metric Calipers are bolt-on replacements for 1978 and later GM Metric calipers widely used in "spec" racing categories. Wilwood’s new 2.50” piston GM Metric calipers are now officially approved for IMCA as OEM replacement caliper that meet all rules in Modified, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, Northern and Sothern Sport Mods. The GM Metric caliper is also available in 2.75” and 2.00” piston sizes for use in other non-restricted series or applications. Calipers require use of hardened Wilwood slide pins (sold separately), request part no. 230-0619 (slide pin kit) that contains 4 slide pins, enough for two calipers. View GM Metric Iron Calipers
