Quality Assurance Manager

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead our quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards are met throughout the software development lifecycle. This role requires a strong understanding of software quality assurance processes, as well as proficiency in various technologies and methodologies. The Quality Assurance Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality and reliability.

SCOPE: Manages and/or oversees the management of all Quality Assurance Department personnel.

SUMMARY: Reports to the Operations Manager. Manages and/or oversees the management of the division quality system, as well as personnel management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluates all Quality Assurance Department workload and resources for staffing, tools, equipment, and training needs and initiates the actions necessary to provide adequate resources.
  • Coordinates for and/or trains subordinates and employees in order to provide proper proficiency, breadth and depth, career progression and management succession.
  • Participates in and fosters teamwork and creative initiative amongst Quality Assurance personnel.
  • Participates in inter-departmental meetings at executive managerial level.
  • Participates with other departments early in the development process with new and existing OEM Customers to discuss PPAP requirements and timelines.
  • Assigns Quality Assurance personnel to inter-departmental committees and/or inter-departmental projects.
  • Communicates, in cooperation with other Wilwood personnel, directly with customers and vendors as necessary to solve internal or customer manufacturing or quality issues, while maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
  • Periodic travel to customer, vendor, test locations, and/or races as required.
  • Maintains the priorities of safety, housekeeping, quality, service and productivity within the department.
  • Assures that the quality system and technical capabilities for inspection of product meet the ever-changing needs of customers.
  • Measures and documents the overall effectiveness of the Quality System, reporting to upper management areas of concern and needs for improvement.
  • Responsible for promoting the established Quality Policy and objectives to increase awareness, motivation and involvement.
  • Responsible for ensuring focus on Customer requirements and satisfaction.
  • Responsible for reviewing the established Quality Management System by participation in the documented Management Review Process.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate resources to implement the Quality Management System within the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Responsible for, and given the organization freedom to report quality deficiencies, recommend solutions, and implement approved corrective and preventative actions.
  • Maintain effective quality procedures to assure configuration control and accuracy.
  • Encourages continuous improvement.
  • Maintains currency in latest quality system technologies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Management.
  • Seeks professional growth and advancement through continued education.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent. Quality Engineering degree or business degree with emphasis on quality management, statistics, probability desired. Five to ten years experience in a quality or quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 desired.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to read ANSI Y14.5 drawings with and understanding of true positioning and geometric tolerancing, and a working knowledge of descriptive geometry. Complete understanding and ability to perform all aspects of Level 3 PPAP, Gage R & R studies, Control Plans, Root Cause Analysis and PFMEA.

Ability to manage several direct reports in Quality Assurance, both supervisory and hourly personnel. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, performance appraisal, rewarding and disciplinary actions and assigning and directing work within the Quality Assurance Department.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Working knowledge and experience with setting up / maintaining quality systems such as ISO 9001:2015 or QS 9001 in a technical manufacturing environment.

Mechanical Designer
Job Type:  Full Time, Employee

Education:  HIgh School Diploma

SCOPE: Reports to the Production/Manufacturing Engineering Manager or Sr. Mechanical Designer. Scope and quantity of projects reflect a low to moderate level of ability and experience in product development.

SUMMARY: Design brake systems and related components, and/or tooling. Help coordinate engineering projects from inception to production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks.
  • Help coordinate prototype development.
  • Assist with product testing and validation.
  • Participate in design reviews and project status meetings.
  • Work with management and engineering support team to achieve project goals.
  • Communicate technical information required by Project Coordination, Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance.
  • Provide technical direction in the creation of production drawings specific to assigned projects.
  • Check manufacturing drawings to company standards.
  • Alert management to potential design risks.
  • Help ensure that products are cost effective, price competitive and maintain a high standard of quality and integrity.
  • Maintain effective operational procedures to assure configuration control and accuracy.
  • Monitor and report when necessary on critical producibility or high variability points within the developmental process flow.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of Wilwood’s manufacturing capabilities.
  • Seek professional growth and advancement through continued education.
