The above friction data (μ) was recorded through braking cycles from 95 mph to 40 mph at a 0.5g deceleration. Snubs were consecutively done until rotor temperature reached 1300°F. This graph represents average data and is for general trend visualisations only comparing Wilwood pads. Chart data should not be used in comparison with other manufacturer's data. Test conditions, variables, and environment can affect test results.

Temperature range and overall friction value are the primary considerations for pad selection. The pads must maintain the proper amount of friction for stopping power within the temperatures that will be realized on the track. Overall wear rate must also be considered. For most asphalt and road race applications, compounds in the high-temperature range over 1000°F are usually necessary. Dirt track, drag race, and street performance applications usually operate at temperatures between 500° and 1000°F. Keep in mind that these are general ranges and not absolute values. Many factors and unforeseen influences can affect brake temperatures. The best indicator for pad selection will always be on-track performance. If pad fade (friction loss) due to overheating occurs, improved cooling, a heavier rotor, or a higher temperature range pad may become necessary.

Billet Narrow Dynalite Calipers

Wilwood’s Billet Narrow Mount Dynalite (NDL) caliper combines the lightweight, high torque performance of our Dynalite Series Calipers, but utilizes a thicker pad design and bolts directly onto standard Superlite 3.50” mounts. Caliper weights starting at 3.50 pounds, yet provides tremendous brake torque. The caliper is extremely compact and will easily mount in limited clearance applications. Its computer generated billet design incorporates internal fluid crossover passages to eliminate external tubes, while the extra thick 0.63” (16,0 mm) Dynalite pad is securely held in by the bridge bolt design. Standard Wilwood features include deep cup stainless steel pistons, high temperature piston seals and black anodized finish. The caliper is available in 1.75, 1.62, 1.38 and 1.12 inch piston bores for 1.25, .81, .50 and .38 inch rotor widths. The Billet NDL is ideal for many racing applications, including Late Models, Modifieds, Sprints, Off Road and Road Racers. View Narrow Dynalite Calipers

Billet Narrow Dynalite Radial Mount Calipers

Wilwood's venerable DynaLite calipers are used in all forms of racing, and the latest Billet Narrow Dynalite Radial Mount (NDLR) series are better than ever. Starting at just 3.20 pounds, this compact and lightweight caliper now incorporates a more rigid radial mount design. Engineered with a spacer-less body specifically for .38”, .810” and 1.00" width rotors and a center bridge bolt adding to overall caliper strength and positive retention of the top-loaded pads. A durable aluminum-oxide ceramic Mil-Spec Type III hard-anodized finish further enhances the durability of the caliper by resisting bore wear and surface abrasion.

Billet NDLR calipers can be directly mounted over studs on a 4.75" center, or used with a radial mount bracket kit in place of a tab-mount caliper. Internal damping springs, internal fluid crossover, controlled retraction in-bore seals, and 3/8” cross bolts for added strength and rigidity all adds up to consistent pedal feel from start to finish. Uses type 7816 brake pads with many Wilwood compound options to fine-tune your driving style and track conditions. View Narrow Dynalite Radial Mount Calipers
