The Chevrolet C/K full-size pickups were sold from 1960 to 1998. The two-wheel drive transmission is designated with a ‘C’ and the four-wheel drive transmission is designated with a ‘K’. 1/2-ton weights are designed with a ‘10’, 3/4-ton with a ‘20’ and 1-ton with a ‘30’. There are four generations of the C/K trucks with the first generation running from 1960-1966. A new modern look dubbed the 1967-1972 second generation the ‘Action Line’. The redesigned ‘square-body’ generation ran from 1973-1987. The fourth generation ran from 1988 to 1998 and was based on the GMT400 platform. Chevrolet updated the truck weight designations from 10/20/30 to ‘1500’ (1/2-ton), ‘2500’ (3/4 ton) and ‘3500’ (1-ton pickup). The continued power and weight additions required much more than the stock drum brakes from that time period.
